17 August 21
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Whānau
As you will have heard on the news tonight, our Prime Minister has announced a Level 4 national lockdown for Covid19 starting at midnight on 17 Aug and lasting for 3 days in our area. Our school is therefore closed for the rest of the week.
The lockdown, whilst sudden, was not unexpected. We learned from the previous lockdown last year that reassuring our children was of paramount importance. With that in mind, we do not intend to move to emergency remote learning immediately. Until the situation across our country becomes clearer, we suggest you look after yourselves and your whānau in the first instance. When we receive further guidance from the government, we will communicate how emergency remote learning will be implemented.
We are all hoping ‘normal service’ will resume as soon as possible. I want to thank you in advance for all you will be doing to keep your children reassured and safe, ready for real school again – hopefully soon. Please also remember that our staff are in their own bubbles too, many with families, children and vulnerable adults to look after. We will be in touch in the next few days as the situation becomes clearer.
